Enjoy Your Journey, Be Grateful, Choose Success

By Mary Pawlus and courtesy of Bob Proctor’s, ‘Insight of the Day’

WE hear about ‘Gratitude’ all the time. We’re supposed to be ‘Grateful’ no matter what’s going on in our lives.

You may be thinking, “Are you kidding me? I have nothing to be grateful for. My life is in shambles.”

Have you learned the 'lesson of Gratitude'?
Well, I’m here to tell you that thought is absolutely OK. However, read on and you will know that Gratitude is key.

There were times when I felt that I simply could not face the day.

But in retrospect, those days were some of the most important days on my journey, because that’s when I realized my strength, my ability to overcome adversity, to change the world – my world, that is.

And I learned the lesson of Gratitude – no matter what the circumstances.

Not so long ago I was a happily married woman, living in a beautiful part of the world, enjoying success in my business, had great relationships with family and friends, and felt that all was right in my world.

Then, within three short years, that perfect world crumbled. Both my parents died, my marriage ended, I became estranged from siblings, and was isolated in that beautiful part of the world.

Not only that, soon after my business contracts ended, and there wasn’t anything on the horizon. I had to take on three jobs just to keep afloat.

I thought, what the heck just happened in my life?

I didn’t realize at the time what a blessing I had been given. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Have you experienced anything similar?

I’ll bet some of you answered, ‘Yes’ to those questions because we have all faced challenges in our lives. Those challenges are actually opportunities.

I like to call them “course corrections”. We just may not realize what they are at the time. Often, we can’t see the forest for the trees.

So, as I sat there wondering, ‘What next?’ I realized that my life is my responsibility.

What an epiphany!

That experience was truly freeing, and I was so grateful. What would I choose? I could choose anything. I was in control of my life. I decided at that moment to choose Success.

As my mentor, Bob Proctor says, “Don’t worry about the ‘How’. When you set ‘Your Big Goal’, just take action and the Universe will provide absolutely everything you need.

“But taking action is the Key!”

Now, having chosen success, I did take action. I sold my house, moved back to the city, and have started my own business in a completely new field.

Had those things not happened to me, I may not have learned the lesson of Gratitude. I may not have chosen Success. I may not have seen all the opportunities that were just waiting for me.

Talk about being Grateful!

Things happen in this journey called life, and how you react to them is a choice... your choice.

We are all here to do great things. We all have our unique gifts to share. Sometimes it takes something unexpected to bring us to Awareness.

Now whenever something ‘appears’ to be negative, I say, ‘Thank You!’ It’s simply a course correction – an opportunity to see things in a different way.

Everything is a choice. Why not choose Success and Gratitude?

How To Think Into A Result

By Bob Proctor, Proctor Gallagher Institute

THIS is not a secret…

If you want to change something in your life, you must start with the end in mind.

Do you think into results? (By freedigitalphotos.net)
In other words, don’t think about your current circumstances. Instead put your imagination into high gear, and think your way into the conditions you want.

I’m not saying that you ignore your current results. That’s impossible to do.

Look at your present results, but don’t get emotionally involved with them. If you let the current facts control your thoughts, things CANNOT improve.

So take your attention off what’s currently going on, and use your will to focus on what you want.

And then…
Let nature take its course

Andrew Carnegie said…

“Any idea that is held in the mind, that is emphasized, that is either feared or revered, will begin at once to clothe itself in the most convenient and appropriate form available.”

That’s because thinking starts a creative process:

1. Thinking creates an image.

2. The image stirs emotions.

3. Emotions cause action.

4. Action sets up a reaction.

So when you’re thinking about what you want, rather than your current results, the reaction (see Step 4) creates new and improved results.

Then, you can start the process all over again by looking at the new result, adapting to the changes that have occurred, and thinking about what you want next.

That way, your life just keeps getting better and better.

“I’ve tried that already!”

I know…

You’ve tried this before and failed, right?

We all have. Probably many, many times.

However, if you pay close attention to what I’m about to share with you, you’ll know what it will take to finally break through.

Take a look at this…

Here’s the bottom line…

To break out of old patterns and realize a goal that has been eluding you, you must raise your level of awareness. And there are seven levels of awareness or consciousness.

Every person on the planet primarily functions at one of the levels. However, according to where we are in our lives at any given time, we may bounce back and forth between levels.

The goal is to move out of the lower, shallower levels of consciousness to mastery. That’s when you are in control of your life, and you respond to what’s going on rather than reacting to it.

Let’s take a look at the role each level might play in your ability to realize your goals. As I go through each one, see if you can identify which level you function in most of the time.

Level 1: Animalistic

At this level, you are in “fight or flight” mode. You allow your current circumstances, not goals or desires, to dictate your life. You react to whatever is going on around you.

Level 2: Mass

At this level, you follow the crowd rather than doing your own thinking or setting goals. You want to conform rather than be creative.

You don’t consciously choose the things you want. Your paradigm rules at this level.

Level 3: Aspiration

You might follow the crowd for years, but at some point, something in you wants something better – something greater than what you have. You know you are capable of more.

Many people become stuck at this level because their new desires are just wishes until they back them with action.

Level 4: Individual

At this level, you want to express your uniqueness as a human being. You begin to dream. You realize that there is no one like you, and you have unique gifts.

However, every time you start to move forward, the paradigm pulls you back to Level 2.

The desire remains, though, so you keep coming back to it. You get locked into a tug of war with your paradigm, which continues to pull you back.

Level 5: Discipline

Here you realize that the only way to move toward your goal is to give yourself a command and then follow it – regardless of what’s going on around you.

However, as soon as you start to do it, the paradigm starts fighting back. Before long, your resolve starts to dissipate and your discipline turns into a wish. And you’re STUCK again!

You’ve got to train yourself to follow a command to overpower the paradigm. Otherwise, you’ll be destined to keep doing what you’ve been doing and getting what you’ve been getting.

So when your discipline starts to dissipate, you must exclaim, “No way! I’m going to do this and I’m going to do it NOW!”

And then step out and do it. And you keep doing it until the paradigm dies from lack of nourishment.

However, it will work only if the goal is something you really want.

Level 6: Experience

When you apply steadfast discipline and you see the desired results manifest, the experience gained reinforces your awareness of your amazing abilities. And you do more of the same.

Experiential learning is real learning. It becomes unnecessary to gather outside information. At this level, you know that all of the answers that you are looking for can be found within.

Level 7: Mastery

At this level, you respond rather than react. You know how to think properly, and you take the actions that produce your desired results.

You’re no longer controlled by habits that don’t serve you.

You have learned the laws of the universe, and you understand how the science works. You’ve used your experience to fine-tune your manifestation techniques so you achieve one goal after the other.

Only a small percentage of the population reaches this point; however, we all have the mental faculties and capacity to do so.

The only thing stopping you from being the captain of your ship is…

You.

Keep studying, writing out your goals, and focusing on what you want, and your awareness will increase

At each new level of awareness, the conditions, circumstances and environment will change. As you adapt to the changes, you’ll then be able to see the next step.

You can’t see how to get to the goal from where you are right now. And you don’t need to.

However, every time you take a step ahead, you’ll get new results and then you can see where to go or what to do next.

Right now, a higher side of you is urging you to create. And your paradigm is nagging at you, wanting you to stay the same.

It’s your choice…

In life, we either create or we disintegrate.

Choose well.

To your success,

Bob Proctor

Pounding In and Pulling Out Nails – with Michael Josephson

Courtesy of Bob Proctor’s ‘Insight of the Day’

WHEN my daughter was confronted with the fact that she had really hurt another child with a mean comment, she cried and immediately wanted to apologize.

That was a good thing, but I wanted her to know an apology can’t always make things better. So I told her the parable of Will, a nine-year-old whose father abandoned his mom two years earlier.

Are you pounding in nails? (Pic by freedigitalphotos.net)
Will was angry, and he often would lash out at others with hurtful words. He once told his mom, “I see why Dad left you!”

Unable to cope with his outbursts of cruelty, she sent Will to spend the summer with his grandparents.

His grandfather’s strategy to help Will learn self-control was to make him go into the garage and pound a two-inch-long nail into a four-by-four board every time he said a mean and nasty thing.

For a small boy, this was a major task, but he couldn’t return until the nail was all the way in. After about ten trips to the garage, Will began to be more cautious about his words.

Eventually, he even apologized for all the bad things he’d said.

That’s when his grandmother came in. She made him bring in the board filled with nails and told him to pull them all out. This was even harder than pounding them in, but after a huge struggle, he did it.

His grandmother hugged him and said, “I appreciate your apology and, of course, I forgive you because I love you, but I want you to know an apology is like pulling out one of those nails.

“Look at the board. The holes are still there. The board will never be the same. I know your dad put a hole in you, but please don’t put holes in other people; you are better than that.”

A fourth-grade teacher recently told me how she tells this story to her class in the beginning of the semester and uses it throughout the year.

When she comes upon a child saying or doing a mean or unkind thing, she will say, “Did you put a nail in someone?” Then she’ll ask, “Did you take it out?”

She says her students always know what she’s talking about and recognize what they did was wrong, which isn’t always the case if she simply asks the child what happened.

(That usually results in a string of blaming everyone else).

She urges her students not to use the automatic, “That’s all right” after an apology, because usually what was done was not all right and the person saying it, rightfully, doesn’t feel it was all right.

She tells her class to say, “I accept your apology” or, “I forgive you” instead.

The teacher also uses the story to help her kids understand difficult family matters outside of the classroom.

She tells them some people will never take out the nails they’ve pounded into the children, but everyone has the power to pull them out themselves and get on with their life rather than let others rule them.

She told me, “The story is simple, but the message is powerful – especially when reinforced with: “You’re better than that!”

Remember, character counts.

How to Eliminate Fear – with Bob Proctor

By John Lee of YourBestYouEver.net

IF there’s one man who’s eminently qualified to speak about success, the principles behind achievement and the kind of emotions that hold us back, it’s Bob Proctor.

We all know him well as a star of the hit movie, ‘The Secret’, the natural successor to his early mentor Earl Nightingale and as co-founder of the Proctor Gallagher Institute.

Author and speaker, Bob Proctor
But like anyone who’s achieved any level of success, Bob has faced his fair share of challenges, setbacks and struggles – not least with unhelpful emotions.

In this short video, he talks about fear, how he came to really understand its nature and effects, and how to handle it, during a particularly turbulent airplane flight.

With characteristic wisdom, he outlines the simple yet potentially paralyzing cause of fear. And he explains how to eliminate fear, however it may manifest in your life.

The Power of Visualization... and 6 Free Mind Movies

By John Lee of YourBestYouEver.net

THERE can be no-one in the modern world who knows more about the Law of Attraction, its undeniable impact on our lives and its application than Bob Proctor.

After all, he's studied the subject for over 50 years, being mentored for a number of years by the legendary Earl Nightingale, and has used what he learned to achieve phenomenal success.

Bob and Natalie discuss the power of visualization
Bob's quest to help others do likewise has seen him pen some of the most influential books of their genre and appear in global hit movies such as 'The Secret', enabling him to pass on his wisdom to people around the world.

Two such people are Natalie and Glen Ledwell - the Australian entrpreneurs behind the 'Mind Movies' visualization software, which counts numerous personal development luminaries among its fans.

In the video you can access below, Natalie and Glen begin to tell their story of how they developed the software, along with their personal battles to harness the power of visualization.

This is no 'sob story', by the way, and one with which many success-driven people will surely identify. Which brings us back to Bob Proctor.

In the second half of the video, he talks to Natalie about the massive importance of visualization in shaping our lives. Among the subjects he covers are:

* Why so many of us fail to realize our dreams simply because we have the wrong focus
* How we're all 'co-creators' in the manifestation process
* Why knowing the 'How' is not important and why it will actually get you nowhere
* Why emotion is vital
* The influence of our personal paradigm and why it needs to be shifted if we want to make changes
* Why there are really no accidents or coincidences

It's fascinating stuff, while Bob reveals himself to be a staunch supporter of Mind Movies.

Better still, if you're not familiar with them yourself, there's a link to 6 pre-made Mind Movies, which are completely free to download.

They cover Wealth Abundance, Vibrant Health, Courage and Confidence, Loving and Appreciating Myself, Finding Inner Peace, and Attracting Friends and A Great Social Life.

The Language of Success - How the Way You Think Determines the Results You Get

Guest post by Stuart Doughty

DO you know how to succeed? Really know, so that anything you imagined that you wanted to do you KNEW you could achieve it?

Million dollars? Know how to get that. Climb Mount Everest? I can do that.

A little reminder...
Run a marathon? Tick it off. Find perfect love? Become a movie star, write a best-selling novel?

What would you have to know, feel or believe to be able to tell yourself, 'Yes I can do that'?

Not to tell others, who have no way of knowing whether you can achieve your goals, but to say to yourself, this is an idea I want to pursue, and I will do it? And know, deep down, that you will succeed.

Well Magnus Carlsen, the Norwegian chess prodigy who became the world champion at 22, is an extraordinary example of how.

At 13 he told a TV interviewer his goal was to become the world champion. Of course, it's every child's dream to become the best in the world at something, but what he said was more startling than the size of his dream.

"I will do what it takes to become world champion."

Well, nine years later he became the second-youngest world champion ever, since Garry Kasparov was crowned king of chess in 1985.

The first clue to achieving our ultimate goals, to live the dream we have dreamed, is to "declare and decide". Declare that this is our goal, so that others know, and to decide that we shall pursue it. Until we reach it.

Bob Proctor likes to tell the story of how the late Sir Edmund Hillary declared he would reach the top of Mount Everest when no one had ever done it and most who thought they knew said it could not be done.

Despite failures by previous expeditions, Hillary accomplished the feat with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, and fulfilled the Everest of goals he set himself.

Hillary once described himself as "just an enthusiastic mountaineer of modest abilities who was willing to work quite hard and had the necessary imagination and determination".

But deciding to do something and being determined are no guarantees of success. That requires something more: Belief and imagination, plus a particular way of thinking.

When Carlsen beat India's Viswanathan Anand in the championship without losing a game to become only the second world chess champion from the West in the modern era, he epitomized what it takes to succeed in any venture.

It requires more than study, or knowledge, more than effort or a 'feel' for the game, and more even than talent. It requires being inside the paradigm of chess.

In a documentary shot before the championship, one of the Carlsen's sisters unwittingly reveals this other key. Magnus, she says, "speaks chess as a language".

She means he's always talking and thinking chess. The reason he was able to become world champion is because he speaks the language of chess.

He doesn't 'play' chess. He is chess. He exists inside of a paradigm, or mental-physical awareness, where everything else is secondary.

Chess does not occur as something extra inside his life, like a job. His life occurs inside the idea 'chess'. He speaks it, thinks it, dreams, relates to life from chess. It is his way of thinking.

This is evident from a clip in the documentary in which he plays 10 lawyers at Harvard University simultaneously, while blindfolded, following each game only in his mind. And wins them all.

His father says "It's a mystery why he is so good". But to those understand the power of the paradigm within the subconscious mind, there is no mystery.

Perhaps the only puzzle was that Carlsen had a gift of concentration as a child, and ability to think in pictures, to visualize a chess board so clearly he could play the game in his mind as easily as on a physical board.

But it is a willingness to concentrate and focus on a goal that manifests a desired result in life. And we can all train ourselves to do that.

When we are passionate about a subject, immerse ourselves in it, when it is the first thing we think of when we wake, the energy of that entity merges with us and seeks expression through us.

We cannot fail when we become one with the object of our focus; when we are intertwined with the subject of our destiny.

This is what it takes to succeed at the highest level; to achieve our biggest goals and live our dreams. To become one with the dream. To live from the goal instead of striving to reach it.

If there is a burning desire within you to achieve a thing - to live inside of your dream - you must step inside of its world and live from the inside out.

Then you will know what to do, or be guided how to reach your Everest, to become the champion of your dream. Do you know how to build your paradigm of success?

"Thinking Into Results", the 12-step program of personal transformation shows you how to master the language of success that you want to speak.

Courage or Conformity?

Guest post by Bob Proctor

THE late Earl Nightingale was, for many years, the most listened to man on radio. His radio show, "Our Changing World", was broadcast on over 1,000 radio stations around the world.

He researched and wrote every show himself. The man virtually devoured books. He was consumed with the idea of why so few people succeed in life and so many others do not.

The late, great Earl Nightingale
I had the good fortune of working for a number of years with Earl. It was a tremendous learning experience; one I treasure more with each passing year.

We all admire the courageous person and quite often consider the individual who lacks courage, a coward. However, that is not how Earl Nightingale saw it.

He said the opposite of courage was not cowardness, it was conformity. I believe the more you think about that, the more you will be inclined to agree with him.

It takes courage to break away from the crowd, to go your own way, to do the thing that may be unpopular.

It takes courage to stand up for the person who is being unjustly criticized, rather than agreeing and going along with the crowd.

It takes courage for the teenager to say no, when all the rest of the kids begin going down the wrong path.

Earl Nightingale was correct - the opposite of courage is conformity. It is one reason so few people enjoy any lasting success.

It is so easy to go along with the large group. We don't have to stand out, to be different.

The next time you are encouraged to fall into line, to be a sport and everything in you says, 'No' - be courageous and go your own way.

There is no compensation in conformity.

'The Friendship Vacuum'

Guest post by  Becca Hanson, VP of Administration at the Proctor Gallagher Institute

Attracting Friendships that Serve You and Last a Lifetime!

WHAT you’re about to read is a love story... well, not so much a love story as a love letter - A Soul Sister story and one of the greatest lessons of my life, to date.

There was a 5-year period in my twenties (up until about 2 years ago) where I found myself completely friendless.

Sure I had my family, my boyfriend, his family and my co-workers but I didn’t have a BFF/female/friendship connection. It was a lonely time in my life.
How and why did I find myself in this situation? Well, believe it or not, it was by choice.

I once read that if you’re the most successful, ambitious and driven of all your friends, you better find new friends.

And in order to attract those new friends, you must first make room in your life to receive them – you must create the vacuum.

At first that sounded just a tad harsh... I mean, I loved my friends, they’d been in my life for years!

We’d been through all kinds of things together: dates, breakups, new careers and countless stupid decisions that often came back to bite us.

Some never did fool me - I knew they were only a part of my life out of convenience. But there were a handful that I felt I had developed true, meaningful friendships with.

The idea that I might one day actually choose to move on from these friendships seemed completely improbable and highly unlikely.

But that is exactly what happened.

In 2007, I found myself longing for something more. I was working as a Nanny and, while I loved my job, I felt deep in my soul that something was missing. I was meant for more. I was capable of more.

I had an entrepreneurial spirit that couldn’t be ignored.

I began studying the work of James Allen, Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale and Bob Proctor.

The information was mind-blowing! The idea that my thoughts, feelings and actions determine my results was a truly liberating concept. I learned that I hold the key to the prison that is my mind.

If I could control my thoughts, I could create anything I wanted!

I remember introducing a couple of friends to my new world – those who I believed would be present in my life for a lifetime.

I was so excited to share my discovery with them and disappointed that all I received in return was skepticism and negativity.

It was deflating and discouraging, to say the least.

But then I remembered... if I’m the most successful, ambitious and driven of all my friends, I had better find new friends.

And in order to attract those new friends, I must first make the space for them and create, what I like to now call, The Friendship Vacuum.

As painful as it was, I knew I HAD to make some changes with regard to the people I was hanging around.

If I wanted to become a successful entrepreneur and have the time, money and mental freedom I longed for, I needed to spend time with others looking to achieve similar dreams – or better yet, people who have already achieved them.

I started spending less and less time with those friends in my life who seemed perfectly happy and content where they were and had no desire whatsoever for something more.

They weren’t bad people, by the way; they just weren’t interested in changing or growing or improving.

Before long, I was lonelier than the man in the lighthouse.

I quickly began questioning my decision. It was a mental battle each and every day not to pick up the phone and apologize for my mistake in order to rekindle our friendship.

But I stayed true to my decision and wished them well.

“Successful people make decisions quickly and firmly. Unsuccessful people make decisions slowly, and they change them often.” - Napoleon Hill.

Months passed, then years, and I still didn’t have any new, close, true friends to speak of. And then there was one. Finally, after 5 years of waiting, waiting, waiting!

I would quickly discover that one is all I needed, because the vision I held was very clear. I asked the universe for a BFF who...

• Loves me unconditionally
• Sees the beauty in my quirkiness
• Is interested in growing and studying together
• Can keep a secret
• Let’s me in
• Makes me laugh when I cry
• Can find the positive in any situation
• Is driven for success
• Operates with integrity, kindness and positivity

There are more traits I asked for, but those are the biggies. Enter Mykie Oyler.

It seemed out of the blue when she entered my life; I didn’t see it coming, yet I knew she was on her way and I welcomed the opportunity for new friendship with open arms.

Once we met it was so obvious that she was exactly who I had been waiting for – and well worth the wait. She was all the things I asked for, and so much more.

There was no way I was squandering this answer to my prayers. I jumped in with both feet, complete faith and an open heart. I trusted her with my secrets.

I let her see me cry. I let her in to my quirky side. And I offered her the same safe space of unconditional friendship, as well.

We became fast friends.

Now, 2 years later, ours is one of the most precious and valued relationships in my life. Where I lack, she excels and visa versa. We’re an incredible team.

And here’s an interesting insight I experienced by creating a Friendship Vacuum:  We don’t attract to us what we want; we attract what we are.

During those lonely years, I put all my time and energy into learning and applying the material I was both studying personally and working with on a career basis.

My mind became so clear and focused on the traits I dearly desired in a true friend, that I literally incorporated and reinforced those very same traits in myself.

I attracted what I wanted because it had become who I was. Isn’t that interesting?

The Friendship Vacuum may seem like a scary concept – and rightfully so. But it’s worth it! And that’s why I challenge you to really consider your relationships and whether they serve and support you in your growth.

Here’s my promise to you: If you will get clear about what you want and who you want to be, create a space for it in your life, and be willing to give as good as you get - you will be very pleasantly surprised by the kind of quality relationships waiting on the other side of the Friendship Vacuum!

Will, Fern, and the Power of Encouragement

By Michael Josephson and Bob Proctor's 'Insight of the Day'

TWO frogs named Will and Fern fell into a deep pit together. At first, they thought it would be easy to jump out.

But after lots of failed attempts they cried for help and a crowd of animals gathered around the pit.

Everyone agreed it was hopeless, so they urged Will and Fern to accept their fate. The harder the trapped frogs jumped, the more the crowd yelled at them to give up.

Real friends will always support and encourage
Finally, Will stopped trying. Fern refused to quit and with one mighty try she leaped out of the pit.

The crowd was amazed. Someone asked her why she kept trying when everyone told her she had no chance.

Fern was baffled. “What are you saying?” she asked. “I’m a bit deaf. I was sure you were all cheering me on. I couldn’t have done it without your encouragement.”

I learned of this story from a woman who was in a transitional housing program recovering from a long period of drug abuse, homelessness and hopelessness.

She wanted everyone to understand how important positivism and encouragement can be to help people who seem down and out to get up and out.

She said she got out of her own pit because caring people helped her believe in herself and gave her the confidence she needed to jump a little harder.

There will always be people in your life ready to tell you what you can’t do. Real friends root for you, support you and help you discover your inner talents and strengths.

I hope you will find and treasure those kinds of friends and be one yourself.

Remember, character counts.

The #1 Fastest Way to Eliminate Self-Doubt

By Natalie Ledwell

You CAN eliminate self-doubt
JACK Canfield, Bob Proctor, Joe Vitale, John Assaraf...

Since 2011, I've had the privilege of interviewing some of the most inspiring personal growth gurus in the world on my weekly web series, The Inspiration Show…

And one thing I can tell you for sure is that, just like you and me, they ALL have moments where they struggle with self-doubt and negative self-talk.

The fact is that there isn't a single person on earth who hasn't experienced doubt when striving for a specific goal.

As human beings, we all come wired with that little voice in our heads that evaluates what's going on around us and gives us a play-by-play of what we should do or say next…

And this "self talk" can either be your greatest ally, or it can be your biggest enemy.

Much of your self talk is reasonable: 'I better slow down or I'll get a  speeding ticket' or 'I'm really looking forward to having dinner with my friends tonight.'

But let's face it - your self talk can also be pretty negative and defeating, like 'I really don't think I can do it' or 'I don't know why I even bother.'

I'm a firm believer that the quality of your life depends on the quality of the conversations you have with yourself about what's going on around you…

So that said, the fastest way to experience more fun, happiness, love and joy TODAY is to start noticing what it is that you're saying to yourself.

Is your self talk mostly positive? Or negative?

Once you start tuning in to what your inner voice is saying, your next step is to shift it towards the positive as much as you can.

If you'd like to know how to do this, I recommend you watch this short 6-minute episode on how to eliminate your self-doubt - and it's actually a lot faster and easier than you may realize!

To your abundantly fulfilling life,

Natalie Ledwell

Don’t let the "town bums and ne’er-do-wells" drag you down

From the files of Bob Proctor

MANY years ago, a young lady who was attending a seminar shared an interesting story with me. Apparently she and two or three of her girlfriends went and tried out for a place in a stage play. She got the starring role while her girlfriends were not even picked for the supporting cast. Opening night she said she was really excited but afterwards became very disappointed when her girlfriends never came out and supported her. She was explaining the situation to an elderly friend of her father's, named Hap. He wrote her a letter and she gave me a copy with her permission to share it with others. Read it carefully and think.

Rise above those who would tear you down
Dear Ann,
Once upon a time there was a fellow by the name of Al Capp who wrote a comic strip called "L'll Abner." Many years ago he had some characters in his strip who lived in a town near Dogpatch. They were the town bums, the ne'er-do-wells, the failures whose whole aim in life was to pass judgement on others. Their criticism and ridicule became so vehement that in time the rest of the people in the town became acutely conscious of it. "The boys down at the stable," as they were called because that's where they spent most of their time, soon set the social standards of the town. Nobody could do anything without their sanction.

Because they lived within the structure of their crummy little world, they would laugh and point their fingers at anyone and everyone who tried to be better than they were. As a result the people feared the ridicule of the boys down at the stable so much that they stopped trying. Soon everybody became bums and the town died.
In every social structure, Ann, whether it be family, town, county or state, there are "The boys down at the stable." They are the jealous ones. They are too scared to try something different. They show their ignorance by laughing at those who do. Learn to recognize them Ann, for what they are. Don't let them hurt you. It takes a certain amount of toughness to succeed. One has to rise above those who would tear you down so that they can laugh and say, "I told you so!"

There are too many of us who love you and want you to make it. I could put myself at the top of the list. You aren't going to fall flat on your face as they would have you. You are going to do a superb job. Remember this show is only a small step in the direction of greater things you will do, many of which are beyond your wildest dreams. All you have to do is want to. One of the things I like about you best is that you always give it hell for try.

The show will be a success because of you and others like you who try. There are only winners in the cast. The losers are gathered down at the stable laughing and hoping for your failure. If we could dig down deep inside them, I'm sure we'd find they want to win also, but are too scared to try, and they attempt to cover up their own failures as human beings by laughing at others. In a sense I'm sorry for them. Their guilt must make them very unhappy people.

Much love,

Hap

Become ‘Unsinkable’!

By John Lee

YOU know that old saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”? Well, I had one of those moments myself recently. Actually, it was, “the book”, rather than the “teacher”, but it still applies.

And there was a further confirmation that this particular work was just what I was looking for (though I didn’t really know it) when the video you can access via the link below coincidentally dropped into my inbox!

Best-selling author, Sonia Ricotti
It features the US author, speaker and specialist in personal and professional transformation, Sonia Ricotti – president of the company, Lead Out Loud, which supplies inspirational products, videos and workshops.

She’s also the woman behind the best-selling and highly-acclaimed book, ‘The Law of Attraction Plain and Simple: Create the Extraordinary Life That You Desire’. This I haven’t yet read, but I was pleased to get my hands on her more recent offering, ‘Unsinkable’.

The ‘subtitle’ for this one is ‘How to Bounce Back Quickly When Life Knocks You Down’, and it’s a wonderful guide to taking control of your mind, your thinking and – crucially – how you react to those tough and sometimes devastating events that life throws at all of us from time to time.

Sonia tells of her own struggles, includes stories by several other leading lights in the self-improvement world, including Bob Proctor, and offers clear, practical steps, tools and strategies to help you take control.

The book’s got some great reader reviews on Amazon, too, as you’ll see if you click on the banner over to the left-hand side of this article.

And the following video is an excellent introduction to the lady herself, her philosophy and her work. Take a look – you won’t be disappointed. Just click on the link below…..

The Power of the Movies in Your Mind

With Bob Proctor

HAVE you ever wondered how children can sit through replay after replay of their favorite Lion King or Little Mermaid video? It amazes me that they’ll voluntarily watch the same show every day without a single complaint or request for something new.

What’s more amazing, though, is that adults do the very same thing with their days.

The majority of men and women play “movies” in their heads again and again, relentlessly focusing on the review of past events, most of which are unpleasant and disturbing experiences that have come their way.

If they’re actually able to stop their contemplation of past events, they allow impressions of their current surroundings and results to govern their lives. And, once in a while for variety’s sake, they’ll contemplate the future by either worrying about it, or daydreaming and wishing that something better might come along. And then they wonder why bad things keep happening to them, or why they never rise above the issues and obstacles in their lives.

Do the movies in your head fill you with doubt?
Frankly, they would be better off watching The Lion King 40 times a day – because at least then, they’d be immersed in a creative and upbeat, positive process. See, most people have never learned how to “program” creative and upbeat “movies” in their heads because they’ve never been taught the value of creative visioning and purposeful thinking.

If you doubt me, listen to the varied conversations going on around you. Sadly enough, I can readily predict that you’ll hear a Dante’s nightmare of disconnected thoughts with very little effort put forth in carrying on a purposeful (much less positively-minded) conversation. While it is true that people are free to think anything they please, as long as they remain set in their ways, there is very little that can be done to change the unpleasant experiences that keep cropping up in their lives.

There is, however, a strong movement that is stirring the multitudes into a new conception of living. The study of the mind – and its veritable unearthly power – is at last taking its proper place in modern civilization. Proper use of the mind and its various faculties will give you anything you choose – but the emphasis here is on the word “proper”. To move in this favored direction requires study and focused, consistent effort ... with a good measure of creative juices stirred in.

In the classic movie, Miracle on 34th Street, Kris Kringle tells young Susie Walker she can become whatever she chooses through the aid of her imagination. Kris went on to explain, the “Imagi-Nation” is a place we can all go ... just like the British nation or the French Nation.

Although this may seem a cute line from a movie, it’s also a very healthy way to view the imagination.
Your mind is a place you can purposely go to. And FREE WILL is your passport. No one is ever refused entry. There are no borders or limits put on the size of what can be built. And best of all, it’s a universal nation that allows all of us citizenry!

Just as the oak tree develops from the gene that lies within the acorn and a bird develops from the gene that lies asleep in the egg, so too will your achievements grow from the organized plans that first begin with your imagination. An image in your mind is the first stage of the creative process in life. From your imagination your visions and plans arise.

In his best-selling book, ‘Think and Grow Rich’, Napoleon Hill wrote, “You will never have a definite purpose in life; you will never have self confidence; you will never have initiative and leadership unless you first create these qualities in your imagination and see yourself in possession of them”. He went on to say that, “... imagination is the most marvelous, miraculous, inconceivably powerful force the world has ever known”.

Now, let’s use our imagination and start to build a picture. I want to introduce you to an interesting concept that I have taught in my seminars for years. If you grasp this concept to the fullest, you can BE, HAVE or DO anything your heart desires ... and I mean anything.

I want to talk about Fantasy – Theory – Fact. The premise underlying this concept is that everything has its origination in the form of Fantasy, which some adventurous soul dared turn into a theory and then became bold enough to turn into a fact. The entire transition, of course, is the result of the highest form of positive thinking, concentration and what could very easily be construed as erratic behavior.

Give this serious thought for a moment. The idea of moon landings, communicating by email, traveling on jets, cellular phones or wearing synthetic garments was, a very short time ago, sheer fantasy. Today, they are considered commonplace. How did that happen? Well let’s take a few moments and give it some thought.

This entire cosmos is filled with thought stuff – a creative form of energy. Your marvelous mind has factors that you can, with little effort, develop to use to improve the quality of life, not just for yourself, but for human kind. Imagination is one of those creative faculties.

Fantasize your way to a better life
The individuals who were responsible for the conception and creation of the email, cell phones and any of the thousands of modern conveniences we enjoy today had a highly developed imagination. Furthermore, they were not easily influenced by the opinions of the masses – the naysayers who historically have criticized and ridiculed anything they do not understand.

These pioneers used their mental faculties to fantasize, to build wild and wonderful pictures in their mind. Then, holding their thought with their will, they began to watch their fantasy unfold into a theory and then into fact. They seemed to have an innate awareness that if they could visualize it, they could do it.

Hence, the fantasy was turned into a theory followed by thoughts of how they could… not why they couldn’t. That is how we got out of the cave and into the condominium.

Let your mind play. Fantasize a much better form of life than you presently enjoy. Try it – you’ll like it! Draft your future with imagination, ponder and calculate with intelligence and awareness, then knit it carefully with care.

Your mental growth or development will determine what the future holds for you. Go to your mental nation and build a beautiful picture of where you want to find yourself one year from today. Then, devise paths and find tools to help get you there.

A few ideas:
• Design an effective program for your own personal development.
• Build a worthwhile library.
• Make a list of 12 good books you will read and refer to – one each month.
• Select programs that will help you understand the awesome powers you possess and how to utilize those powers in practical ways to improve the quality of your life.
• Commit to reaching new goals. The only barrier separating you from your goal is ignorance – ignorance of how simple ... and simply powerful ... your mind really is.
• Replace the ignorance with knowledge. And replace your old movies with the movies you’ve always wanted to write – they’re there, just waiting for you in your Imagi-Nation.

Use your imagination,

Bob Proctor
