How to Meditate: A Guided Meditation with Jack Canfield

Posted By John Lee of YourBestYouEver.net

If you’ve ever tried your hand at meditation and looked on line or at your local book store for help and inspiration, you’ll know there’s shed loads of information out there.

Some is complex. Some is fairly simple. And some is so far ‘out there’ you feel like you need a Master’s Degree in Metaphysics before you can even think about getting started!
Let Jack Canfield show the art of meditation

Yet meditation is the simplest of phenomena and, in fact, an everyday part of our lives, in much the same way as ‘trance’ within the practice of hypnotherapy.

Whenever you get lost in a book or movie, for example, or find yourself day-dreaming as you gaze into the flames of a cozy fire... you’re in trance. And meditation is not dissimilar.

Take a look at the video below – featuring American author, motivational speaker, corporate trainer, and entrepreneur, Jack Canfield – and you’ll see how simple and useful it can be.

You may know Jack from movies such as, ‘The Secret’ or ‘The Keeper of the Keys’, books like the ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ series or his numerous other self-improvement programs.

And if you do, you’ll know he always manages to strip away the confusing and complex to offer straightforward and very practical help in every subject.

Here, he takes you through his own four-part, guided meditation that’s easy to implement, very practical and refreshingly empowering – all in just eight minutes.

Better still, Jack also takes a look at what exactly meditation is, why it’s an important tool for everyone and the huge benefits it can bring to your life.

The entire video’s only 18 minutes long. So take a look. Just click on the link below to go to the original recording.

Six Fail-Safe Tips to Make You More Persuasive

By Kurt A Tasche

HOW can some individuals be so persuasive while others cannot appear to encourage anyone to do anything?

Persuasion is part art and part science. Some people are born with the charisma that most people lack. But anyone can become more persuasive with the right approach.

Have you got the power of persuasion? (By freedigitalphotos.net)
Anyone that can read or write can influence others successfully.

What would it mean to your professional and personal life if you could reliably influence others? Very few abilities are as extensive in their advantages.

Persuade others to align with your mindset:

1. Produce a connection with those you wish to influence. Whether you’re aiming to influence a single person or a thousand, it is essential to produce relationships.

The level of trust and connection you can develop will directly influence your capability to affect others. This is an essential first step. There are lots of ways to establish a connection:

* Show what you share in common.

* Mirror and match the other person’s body movements and gestures.

* Be sincere and real.

* Show others that you can be trusted.

2. Be convincing. You might feel very small and insecure. However, holding yourself in that manner won’t encourage anybody that they should follow you.

There are a number of ways we show an absence of conviction, such as body language, using qualifiers like, ‘I think, probably, maybe and possibly’, and absence of eye contact.

Stand tall, look them in the eye, and present your viewpoint like it’s an apparent truth. Your self-confidence is key.

3. Use reciprocity to your advantage. Research studies reveal that you’re far more likely to return a favor after someone does something for you.

That’s why the people who knock on your door and aim to offer you vinyl siding offer you a pen or a magnet. They understand that you’ll be more likely to buy from them.

Do something for the individual you’re trying to persuade. You might buy them lunch, drive them to the airport, or let them borrow a cup of sugar.

Do something for them prior to you trying to persuade and influence them. Your odds of success will increase drastically.

4. Consider their interests. Even the most honorable of people question what’s in it for them. Make it clear exactly what they’ll be receiving out of the deal.

Your neighbor might not want to accept your idea of building a fence between your properties.

Nevertheless, he may change his mind if you can show him the advantages he’ll be enjoying.

You might explain that your dog will stop leaving ‘gifts’ on his lawn.

It may help the resale value of his house.

It may minimize the amount of weeds on your lawn spreading to his.

It will increase his level of privacy.

5. Be an excellent listener. The other party matters a lot. We tend to only consider ourselves when we’re aiming to be influential, however this is a serious error.

Open your ears and close your mouth. When you comprehend the needs of the other individual, you’ll understand how to influence them.

6. Develop yourself as an authority. If you hung around with the Dalai Lama and wrote three books on meditation, your viewpoints on the subject are much more likely to be valued and appreciated.

Wearing a suit would convey authority in the right setting.

Persuasion is a highly researched topic. There are countless resources if you wish to learn more.

The capability to influence others is useful both in and outside of work. Invest some time in practicing this important skill. You’ll be glad you did!

Turning Your Stress Into Success

By Linda Credit

AS people, we are bound to experience stress almost everyday in our lives. It can be through work, school or just doing some household chores.

If stress is not relieved in a person then it can take its toll by affecting our mind and body. But if it is managed the right way, it can be channeled to something positive.

Turn YOUR stress into success - pic by stockimages/freedigitalphotos.net
For those of you who are inducing stress every day in your life, here are some tips on how to manage it:

1. Every day is a new day - You should know that life doesn't repeat itself. The reason why we are given tomorrow is so that we can start afresh and forget about the hindrances of the past.

As for you, take a moment each day, when you wake up, to inhale all the good vibes and live with it. Embrace all the things around you and be thankful that you were given another day.

Don't let the failures of yesterday drag you down, but instead let it be the motivation to correct tomorrow and do your best to make the day worthwhile.

2. Meditate each day - Meditation is a helpful way to ease your mind and body. Take a moment each day and reflect on the experiences that made you happy.

Channel all the positive experiences that you have so that you will be reminded of the things that made you happy in your life.

If you do this successfully then you will surely be prepared to face the challenges of the day ahead.

3. Have a good breakfast and plan your day - Eating a good breakfast is very important to get your body ready for the day. This will fuel your body the moment you go about your daily task.

While doing breakfast, you should also set some plans on what you will do for the day. Don't get ahead of yourself by planning for tomorrow because what you'll be doing today is far more important.

4. Embrace confidence - Be ready to face the day by putting a smile on your face. Always walk with confidence that you are ready to face whatever comes your way.

Just believe that you are better than the others so that you'll keep yourself motivated the entire time.

5. Embrace each moment as if it's your last - By thinking like this, you will really push yourself to do whatever is necessary to make the moment worthwhile.

You will feel like working way beyond 100 per cent and you will surely accomplish a lot of things on that day.

6. Do some light exercises - As you know, exercising is a very important method to be followed by every person to ensure that their body is taken care of.

Exercise also serves as a reliever for stress. So take time each day to do some simple exercises so that everything in your body will always feel relaxed.

7. Put a 100 per cent into everything - Doing your best is a great thing to do whenever you are doing a task. If you must, go beyond 100 per cent and find out what you are truly capable of.

Remember that stress is only a temporary condition. Just follow the steps mentioned above and you will surely find success because of it.

5 Things Super Successful People Do Before 8am

By Jennifer Cohen

RISE and shine! Morning time just became your new best friend. Love it or hate it, utilizing the morning hours before work may be the key to a successful and healthy lifestyle.

That’s right, early rising is a common trait found in many CEOs, government officials, and other influential people. (Former British Prime Minister) Margaret Thatcher was up every day at 5am.

Boost your success ... with 5 simple habits
Frank Lloyd Wright at 4am and Robert Iger – the CEO of Disney – wakes at 4.30am just to name a few. I know what you’re thinking – you do your best work at night.

Not so fast. According to ‘Inc. Magazine’, morning people have been found to be more proactive and more productive.

In addition, the health benefits for those with a life before work go on and on. Let’s explore 5 of the things successful people do before 8am.

1. Exercise. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Most people that work out daily, work out in the morning.

Whether it’s a morning yoga session or a trip to the gym, exercising before work gives you a boost of energy for the day and that deserved sense of accomplishment.

Anyone can tackle a pile of paperwork after 200 ab reps! Morning workouts also eliminate the possibility of flaking out on your cardio after a long day at work.

Even if you aren’t bright eyed and bushy-tailed at the thought of a 5am jog, try waking up 15 minutes early for a quick bedside set of pushups or stretching.

It’ll help wake up your body, and prep you for your day.

2. Map Out Your Day. Maximize your potential by mapping out your schedule for the day, as well as your goals and to dos.

The morning is a good time for this as it is often one of the only quiet times a person gets throughout the day.

The early hours foster easier reflection that helps when prioritizing your activities. They also allow for uninterrupted problem-solving when trying to fit everything into your timetable.

While scheduling, don’t forget about your mental health. Plan a 10-minute break after that stressful meeting for a quick walk around the block or a moment of meditation at your desk.

Trying to eat healthy? Schedule a small window in the evening to pack a few nutritious snacks to bring to work the next day.

3. Eat a Healthy Breakfast. We all know that rush out the door with a cup of coffee and an empty stomach feeling.

You sit down at your desk, and you’re already wondering how early that taco truck sets up camp outside your office.

No good. Take that extra time in the morning to fuel your body for the tasks ahead of it. It will help keep your mind on what’s at hand and not your growling stomach.

Not only is breakfast good for your physical health, it is also a good time to connect socially.

Even five minutes of talking with your kids or spouse while eating a quick bowl of oatmeal can boost your spirits before heading out the door.

4. Visualization. These days we talk about our physical health ad nauseam, but sometimes our mental health gets overlooked.

The morning is the perfect time to spend some quiet time inside your mind meditating or visualizing.

Take a moment to visualize your day ahead of you, focusing on the successes you will have.

Even just a minute of visualization and positive thinking can help improve your mood and outlook on your workload for the day.

5. Make Your Day Top Heavy. We all have that one item on our ‘to-do list’ that we dread.

It looms over you all day (or week) until you finally suck it up and do it after much procrastination.

Here’s an easy tip to save yourself the stress – do that least desirable task on your list first.

Instead of anticipating the unpleasantness of it from first coffee through your lunch break, get it out of the way.

The morning is the time when you are (generally) more well rested and your energy level is up. Therefore, you are better equipped to handle more difficult projects.

And look at it this way..... your day will get progressively easier, not the other way around.

By the time your work day is ending, you’re winding down with easier to dos and heading into your free time more relaxed. Success!

Welcome to The Science of Stillness

By John Lee

Bring up the subject of ‘meditation’ and it’s probably fair to say that the image in most people’s mind will be of someone draped in robes, seated in the lotus position and silently contemplating their navel for hours on end.

Tom Cronin of 'The Science of Stillness'
The more enlightened, of course, know that this very limited new-age, quasi-religious, ‘hippy-dippy’ view of what is a wonderful ancient practice is completely out-dated. People from all walks of life – myself included – use mediation on an everyday basis.

Personally, I find it incredibly restful and rejuvenating, plus an excellent way to get really clear on what I want in my life and to actually begin the process of creation and manifestation – using an excellent programme from Dr Wayne Dyer, called ‘The Secrets to Manifesting Your Destiny’.

So when the video below dropped into my inbox, from the good folks at Mind Movies, I was intrigued by the title, to say the very least.

It features an Aussie guy, called Tom Cronin, who used to lead what was clearly a hectic and probably rather hedonistic existence in the world of city high finance and came to meditation as a way to combat the anxiety attacks, panic attacks and depression brought on by his hard-working and equally hard-partying lifestyle.

He tells his story, talks about finding meditation, the evolution of his ‘Science of Stillness’ programme and just some of the many benefits people have gained by using it for just 20 minutes a day. The Mind Movies team also provide a link to find out more details about Tom.

Take a look. It’s fascinating and very refreshing. And if you’ve ever been sceptical about meditation, prepare to be enlightened… Click on the link below.

'Brain Change Therapy' with Carol Kershaw & Bill Wade

Posted by John Lee

I just had to share this remarkable video from the team at Mind Movies, featuring an interview with Dr Carol Kershaw and Dr Bill Wade, co-authors of the book 'Brain Change Therapy: Clinical Interventions for Self Transformation'.

Interviewed by Natalie Ledwell, Dr Kershaw and Dr Wade – an esteemed clinical psychologist and and an equally highly-regarded licensed professional counsellor, respectively – talk about their research into techniques such as mediation, EFT and visualization, and how they can help to bring about positive change.

Among the subjects covered are the brain's continued development throughout life, our ability to control our physical systems using our mind, how our mental state affects our attitudes, emotions, behaviour and so on, plus chemical and electrical activity in the brain and how this influences our emotional state.

They also explain how unhelpful thinking patterns can be actively corrected through training and practice – in a similar way to improving a bad golf swing, for example – and how this translates down to a neurological level, changing the brain's neural activity, as well as its size and functioning.

This is absolutely fascinating stuff and a must-see, especially if you've ever doubted the efficacy of practices such as meditation and found yourself in need of scientific reasoning and research to back them up. Just click on the link below to be taken to the video.
