Happiness or Gratitude... Which Comes First?

With Brother David Steindl-Rast

(Posted by John Lee of YourBestYouEver.net)

ASK most people the above question and they'll probably reply that they'll be grateful once they feel happy.

Brother David Steindl-Rast speaking at TED last summer
Not so, according to Benedictine monk, Brother David Steindl-Rast, who has written and spoken extensively on the interaction between these two powerful emotions.

And in the video you can access below, Brother David is at his most engaging and enlightening, while speaking on the subject at TED last summer.

Wonderfully warm, gentle and serene, he examines a number of points, with characteristic clarity and simplicity, including:

* Which comes first, 'happiness' or 'gratefulness'
* The true nature of gratitude,
* The real value of the present moment
And
* Why opportunity DOESN'T knock JUST once

He also offers a straightforward, three-step method we can all use to live gratefully and talks about the very different revolution currently taking in human consciousness.

Take a look. It's a brilliant presentation.
